The ICE HELIX 7 CHIRP GPS G4 All-Season, is one of the Humminbird ice fish finders released at the end of 2021. It comes with the newer Premium Shuttle and the unit has a richer pixel resolution than the previous G3 model. Evidently, since it’s a G4, not a G4N model, it doesn’t have Ethernet or NMEA 2000 ports. It also doesn’t have wireless connectivity.
The unit features a pixel resolution of 1024 x 600, with LED backlight. It doesn’t have touchscreen technology. Its keypad covers functions such as +/- Zoom, View, Check/Info, Menu, Mark Waypoint, Go-To / MOB, Exit, and also includes the 4-direction cursor.
The Premium All-Season pack includes several accessories, such as a 15 Ah lithium battery with 15+ hours of runtime, two transducers (for ice and boat), a gimbal mount for the unit for boat installation, as well as suction cup and transom mounts for the boat transducer. There is also a charger for the battery, a unit cover, and several cables. Of course, the Premium Shuttle is the most important accessory. It’s bigger than the previous shuttle, has a larger handle, multiple 1/4″ holes for various accessories, and superior cable management possibilities.
The unit does not have Side Imaging or Down Imaging. It only has the Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar. It supports three main frequencies, these being 50/83/200 kHz. The included transducers are the Xi 9 1521 for ice fishing, and the XNT 9 HW T for boat. They cast conical beams. The coverage of the ice transducer is 15° – 21° and a maximum depth range of 400 ft. (122 m). The beams cast by the boat transducer have angles between 25° and 42°, and the maximum depth range of this transducer is 1,200 ft. (365 m).
Of course, the unit is also a chartplotter. It comes pre-loaded with the Humminbird Basemap for both inland waters and coastal waters of the U.S. It supports Navionics Gold/HotMaps, Navionics+, Navionics Platinum+, LakeMaster, CoastMaster, and SmartStrike fishing charts. It also has the AutoChart Live Ice version, which is pre-set for creating bathymetric maps while ice fishing. Of course, AC Live can also be used on boats.
