The Hummingbird Fish Finder PiranhaMax 150 Portable basically has all the features of the Piranhamax 150, but with a few improvements. Just like most of the fish finders in the PiranhaMax series, this is a low cost model, with basic features, focused on tracking fish.
It’s endowed with a 4-inch display, monochrome, featuring a basic pixel resolution of 160 x 128. The sonar technology of this Hummingbird fish finder is also the same as the one featured by the PiranhaMax 150. It has ha single beam transducer that operates at 200 kHz, in a 20° cone.
Since it has a wattage of up to 800 Watts (PTP), this unit is quite reliable in waters up to 600 ft. deep. However, don’t forget that the depth reliability is also influenced by various factors, like salinity, temperature or thickness of the water.
Although this unit doesn’t have Down Imaging or Side Imaging technology, nor the SwitchFire technology, the Fish ID option is quite great to use. It will identify the fish for you, assigning a different size icon to each significant one, and also a data about the depth at which they are located.
Since the Hummingbird Fish Finder PiranhaMax 150 Portable, as its name suggests it, is a portable device, it comes with a soft-sided carry-case. The transducer is provided with suction cup, and despite what you may believe, this suction cup really sticks to the surface you apply it to. The transducer won’t fall off, and it would sometimes even be quite difficult to unattach when you want to.
This fish finder also comes with a 7AH battery and charger. And the battery is made to last.
Since it’s a portable Hummingbird fish finder, this PiranhaMax 150 model has a high degree of flexibility. Not only that you can mount and unmount it easily from on boat to another if you own more than one boat, it’s also very useful for kayak fishing. Or you can successfully use it for ice fishing.
