
The Humminbird 959ci HD Combo is one of the new 900 series fish finders released for 2014. It’s basically the same as the 999ci HD SI Combo, but without the Side Imaging / Down Imaging sonar, and with a few minuses when it comes to its navigational capabilities.
Nevertheless, it’s equipped with an 8-inch diagonal display, 800 x 480 pixel resolution, 16:9 color and LED backlit, offering crystal-clear images, easy to read in harsh sunlight or when it’s dark. Has a 500 Watts RMS / 4,000 Watts PTP power output, but can be upgraded to 1,000 Watts RMS / 8,000 Watts PTP with an optional deepwater transducer.
In terms of sonar capabilities, the 959ci HD Combo does not come with Side Imaging or Down Imaging, however it has the classic Dual Beam Plus sonar, which can be operated at two frequencies: 83 kHz / 60° or 200 kHz / 20°, for a narrowed but more accurate view. The standard transducer that comes in the box with this unit is a Transom XNT 9 20 T. This fish finder does not support 360 Imaging, nor CHIRP technology.
Regarding is navigational features, the Hummingbird 959ci HD Combo has Precision GPS and GPS speed, with the ContourXD cartography package included. It can also be upgraded with a Lakemaster, Navionics Platinum+, Gold/HotMaps. It also supports NMEA2000 but its not included. It can store up to 2,750 waypoints, 45 routes and 50 tracks (20,000 points each).
Other included features that would require mentioning, are: Selective Fish ID+, Temperature Graph and Alarm (does not support WeatherSense), Freeze Frame and Instant Image Update, Triplog, Wide and Narrow Cone Split Screen, and X-Press Menu System. PC Connect is optional though.
