The Hummingbird Fish Finder 385ci Combo Portable is a nice and small unit which can successfully fit in almost any boat, making it more complete. Along with the GPS and fish finding capabilities will provide you with quite a few other useful features.
Since it’s one of the portable Hummingbird fish finders it comes with the thin-sided carry case, and with a 7 Amp AGM Battery and charger. I’ve been using a Hummingbird 385ci Combo Portable myself until I got my 998c SI Combo, and in a 5-6 hours fishing excursion I never ran out of juice with this battery.
It has 3.5-inch screen 320 x 240 pixel resolution, full color with LED backlight which grants a high readability even in direct sunlight.
Although it doesn’t have SI or DI technology, the DualBeam sonar featured by this Hummingbird fish finder is quite reliable. You will get clear returns of the bottom, be able to determine its contour and locate fish with ease, even in 1000 ft deep waters. And for a small unit, the Hummingbird fish finder 385ci Combo Portable has quite some wattage, it’s power output is 2400 Watts PTP.
This Hummingbird fish finder also has great GPS possibilities. Comes with a 50 channel Internal GPS which logs on pretty quickly, and you’ll be able to tell your position in seconds. It’s an excellent unit for Chartplotting and Trackplotting, with a memory that can stock up to 2,000 waypoints, 50 routes and 50 tracks – 20,000 points each, almost like the Humminbird fish finders in the 900 and 1100 series.
It comes with the built-in UniMap mapping package, and has built-in card slot which gives you the possibility to upgrade this unit to a Navionics chip, for superior navigational possibilities.
All in all, this Hummingbird Fish Finder is a great unit to have on your boat if you need to save space and save some money without cutting off the performance.
