The Hummingbird Fish Finder 345 Portable is a model focused exclusively on locating fish. Does not have any GPS capabilities, which makes it a bit cheaper. Since it’s a portable unit it comes with a very neat carry case and the package also includes the AGM battery and its charger.
Although it has a small screen, 3.5-inch diagonal wide, with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution, the display is brilliant color, 256 TFT, with LED backlight. This allows a very nice readability even in direct sunlight.
The Hummingbird Fish Finder 345c Portable does not have Side Imaging or Down Imaging. However, it has an advanced DualBeam sonar which allows you to determine the contour of the bottom, what structures pass under the boat, and of course to locate game and bait fish quickly. Has a depth reliability up to 1000 feet.
Since it’s equipped with a DualBeam technology sonar, you can adjust the frequency from the usual 83 kHz / 60° to 200 kHz / 20° for more accurate returns. The fish ID option will enable you to understand which fish are directly under the boat and which are caught by the 60 degrees sonar beam, placed on the sides of the boat.
This Humminbird unit has a 2400 Watts PtP power output which is not bad for a small fish finder.
As I said, the Hummingbird Fish Finder 345c Portable does not have any GPS or chartplotting features, but it makes a great fish finding tool, nice to have on your boat. Since it’s a portable unit, it will offer you a much higher flexibility in using it.
